People with dementia in public transport
The project addresses the question, which specific effects dementia has on the affected people´s mobility outside of their home. The narrative collection of experiences and stories of different occupational groups of public transport enterprises as well as of relatives of people with dementia provide a central contribution to answer the research question.
The foundation of the project is an extensive literature research dealing with the mobility of people with dementia outside of their home focusing public transportation. Furthermore, international examples are analysed to derive relevant aspects for the situation in Austria. In the next step experiences of employees of public transport enterprises, people with dementia and their relatives are collected. In order to establish a wide-ranging basis for an Austrian-wide survey focus groups with employees of public transport enterprises were performed in three federal states of Austria.
