Learning Space of the Future
In the project “Learning Space of the Future” participatory and conceptual methods are used in order to give children and adolescents of (pre-)schools in Vorarlberg the opportunity to deal with technological and spatial design developments and as a result, design their own learning space.
Within the project children and adolescents follow a complete design process which is inspired by the planning practice and go through the design process theoretically but also practically (e.g. building models or prototypes) on their own. Because the process is close to the children´s and adolescents´ concepts of life they are additionally motivated to get involved into the process and gain knowledge.
To get to know role-models from technical disciplines and excursions to successful design projects, technological enterprises and smart rooms enrich the children´s and adolescences´ pool of experience. The planned hands-on-process has the potential to arouse their interest in research, technologies and innovation, to strengthen the connection between educational institutions, science and the private sector and to live the idea of inclusion in the transported project content by the involved people.
