Gender Equality Academy

 

Even though education and training initiatives on ‘Gender Equality (GE) in research’ already exist at European and
national level, there is a growing need to develop, structure and coordinate these activities. This project aims to do
so, furthering the development of capacity-building formats and models including the design of accompanying
training materials for trainers, practitioners and researchers and making them available to the widest possible
audience.

Sustainable green maintenance, maintenance, maintenance of vertical
Greenery including legal aspects

The value of the greening of buildings has been increasing because of a continuous decreaseof green spaces in urban areas and concurrent global changes of the climate which causesurban heat islands particularly in cities. Vertical greenings, like ground-bound greenings withclimbing plants or complex facade-bound greenings in exterior spaces are effectivecountermeasures and solution to solve the described issue. Especially vertical greenings havea great potential within the context of densification of urban areas because no land area is consumed.

Dementia on the move. Study and recommendations for action for a dementia-friendly use of public transport

Currently, there are 130.000 people with dementing disabilities in Austria. Most of the affected people live at home. People with dementia as well as their relatives withdraw from different social areas over the time which comes along with the reduction of their mobility outside of their home. But, activities outside of home are often a condition for social interactions.

Design of green and open spaces as dynamic field of development for quality of life through social innovations

The present project „Smart Pölten“ is based on the preceding study „Smart&GreenLivingLab“ (FFG project 855516) and focuses consequently on creating social innovations with a broad «social impact». The necessary grounds for this intention are laid by specific elements of a traditional as well as innovative planning for green and open spaces. These elements will be implemented on several locations as so-called “stepping stones” on the basis of an empowerment-based participative planning process with the citizens of St. Pölten.

Greening Schools!

Greening Schools!

Within the project “Greening Schools!” theoretical as well as practical approaches to implement greenings inside and outside of school buildings are examined. Exemplary, greenings are installed in two newly built schools and will be installed in one school which is in the planning and construction phase. The goal of the project is to develop a guideline which summarises the project findings about green architecture in school buildings.

EnBe2.0 – Tailor-made Energy Consulting for Private Households

Energy consulting for private households can make a significant contribution to achieving energy efficiency targets. The extent to which these targets can be validated, however, depends to a large degree on the consideration of the individual demands of the consulted people and/or households. Not only do socioeconomic, environmental and structural factors like income, climate or living space have an impact on the effectiveness of energy consulting but also the consideration of people’s habits, needs, preferences, values, attitudes etc. Due to the fact that the common practice of energy consulting is insufficient in terms of taking into account household and end-use energy consumer related factors, energy savings gained through energy consulting for private households have, as a result, been unsatisfactory.
